What You Shouldn't Do as a Beginner Content Writer
This is what you shouldn’t do as a beginner content writer.
In my last several posts, I explained how to get clients as a content writer. I hope you guys will implement some of those strategies for yourself and find clients. In today’s post, I will write about something you shouldn’t do as a beginner content writer. Keep on reading!
When as a beginner, you will reach out to clients, you will find some of them will offer you meager pay. It may not be delightful for you. You may have read about the success of experienced content writers boasting their high pay.
By this time, it is obvious to keep similar expectations. But that’s not the right way to see things. You started comparing yourself with someone who has years of experience. It is obviously going to bring a disappointment for you.
My suggestion to all beginner content writers is not to worry about pay a lot, at least in the initial phase of their career. As a beginner, you may get lower pay.
It is okay, as it happened to me as well. My first client used to pay me 0.50 Rupees per word. I have even worked for 0.20 Rupees per word. I never complained about the pay but kept on writing for my clients. Today with all the experience, I easily charge 8 Rupees per word to my clients.
You may read several posts talking about not working for low pay. It may be accurate, but for those who already have years of experience in the industry. If you are an absolute beginner, In the early days, your entire aim should be enhancing your writing skills and not only finding high-paying clients.
Start with any good writing opportunity you get, regardless of the pay you are getting. Think this way as you are getting an opportunity to write and build your portfolio. Forget about pay; if you keep writing, it will help you improve your writing skills.
Once you have solid writing skills, you can increase your rates and earn more. But if you start worrying about the pay from day one, you will miss out on writing opportunities you could have gotten in the early phase of your career.
So instead of looking for high-paying clients, get started in your journey. If you want, you can still look for such high-paying clients, but at least start your career with whatever opportunity you have.
That’s all I wanted to share in this post.
I understand you may be looking to earn more. The best way to increase your earnings as a content writer is by working with International clients.
In tomorrow’s post, I will write about how you can try to work with International clients. So if you are interested, please stay tuned for that.
Thanks for reading this one.
Have a great day!
