How You Can Get Traffic on Your Blog

· 4 min read

This is how you can get traffic on your blog.

In my last post, I discussed whether you should use AI-generated content on your blog or not. I won’t suggest to use completely AI-generated content. If you want, you can use AI tools for research purposes, nothing more.

The yesterday’s post also sums up my series of posts around publishing high-quality content on a blog. If you have followed all the posts in the series, you should be able to research good-quality keywords for your blog. Once you have keywords, you can either write yourself or build a team of content writers and get the content written.

Many beginner bloggers reach out to me and ask how they can get traffic on their blog. So, in today’s post, I will write my thoughts about how you can get traffic on your blog. Let’s start.

As per my understanding, there are three main ways by which blogs get traffic:

  1. Search Engines
  2. Direct Visitors
  3. Social Media

Now let’s understand how you can get traffic from each of these three ways.

Search Engines: The biggest traffic driver for every blog are search engines. By search engines, I mean Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. Your first aim should always be to get traffic from search engines. Even among all the search engines, the most popular one is Google, so your target should be getting ranked in Google. Many Blogging Gurus will teach you about so many complicated ways to get traffic from Google. But as per my experience, it’s just the combination of the right keyword and the right content. If you can find keywords that have less competition and then publish high-quality content on such keywords for a certain period of time, your blog will start ranking in Google. The best part, I have already explained how you can do keyword research and publish content on those keywords. So, you just need to practice what I have already written with consistency, and you should start getting traffic very soon.

Direct Visitors: Next way by which blogs get traffic is through direct visitors. As the name suggests, direct visitors means a visitor who directly visits your blog from a browser bookmark or by typing your blog URL. The already established blogs receive a huge amount of direct visitors. When your blog is brand new, then not many people know about it, and it means you can’t expect many direct visitors. Over time, as more people will visit your website from search engines or social media and come to know about your blog and the type of content you publish, they will start visiting your blog directly. Usually, it takes years to build direct traffic for a blog. And even after years, direct traffic will typically be around 10-20% of your total traffic.

Social Media: Next way to get traffic on a blog is social media—the platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, Reddit, etc. If you are active on any of these platforms and have been creating content for that platform, then you will have an audience there. Now when you will publish a new piece of content on your blog, you can share it on social media. Those who are following you will visit to your blog directly from there. Social media also helps in brand building, which helps in getting more direct visitors. When your blog’s socials grow, more people will know about it, and they will visit directly.

So these are the three main ways to get traffic on a blog. Other than that, we have a few more ways, like email newsletters. If you could build an email list of your readers, then you can share your new posts with them, bringing some more visitors to your blogs.

That’s all I have to write in this post.
