Growing MobilesTalk to 135k Monthly Page Views

I acquired a Tech site and grew it to 135k monthly page views.

In yesterday's post, I shared how I acquired mobilestalk.net. In today's post, I am sharing how I grew it.

At the time of acquisition, MobilesTalk had two types of content.

  1. Text-based content, around 62 published posts.
  2. Product pages of smartphones, laptops, and mobile processors and their comparisons.

When I got access to the site, It was getting 40k page views per month and making just $40 in revenue.

After getting access, I added the site to my Adsense. Once I got the approval, I deleted existing text content, as they were mostly news articles. I kept the product pages and comparisons as they had all the traffic.

As comparisons were working on that site, we started creating product pages for newly launched SoCs and compared them with the previously launched SoCs.

We kept focusing only on mobile processors until March 2022. As a result, our traffic on MobilesTalk remained consistent at around the same level at the time of purchase.

On 15th March 2022, I discussed this with my team. We made some decisions, like completing every SoC launched in the last ten years and entering other hardware product categories.

The first category we got agreed on was CPU. As CPUs were very close to mobile processors. So as discussed, we first completed all the left SoCs by May 2022.

After it, we got started on CPUs; by October, we had almost finished creating product pages of all the upcoming, present, and previously launched CPUs and compared them with each other.

The new pages started giving results, and the traffic started climbing.

Then we also got into the GPU category and similarly completed upcoming, present, and older GPUs. So, by 2022, we were into three categories SoCs, CPUs, and GPUs.

Most importantly, MobilesTalk compares one product to all other products within its category. Currently, we have over 65000 comparisons on the site. There are only a few sites on the Internet with such an extensive database.

So far, We have only covered three product categories. Now we have plans to expand into other categories. The goal is to have a category of all the consumer hardware products with all the launched and upcoming products along with their comparisons.

Later in July 2022, we also started publishing text-based content on MobilesTalk. So far, we have published 120 articles, and will publish more this year.

All these efforts have started giving good results. The traffic is now grown to 135k+ monthly page views. I am hopeful that it will reach the magical number of 1 million monthly page views by the end of this year.
