How You Can Make Money Doing Sponsored Posts on Your Blog
This is how you can make money doing sponsored posts on your blog.
In my yesterday’s post, I talked about a common mistake that most bloggers make while doing affiliate marketing on their blogs. That post sums up everything I wanted to talk about affiliate marketing.
Moving forward, the last way I had mentioned to monetize a blog was sponsored posts. So, in today’s post, let’s talk about how you can make money by doing sponsored posts on your blog. Let’s start.
As the term “Sponsored” suggests, you are getting funded by someone. In the case of blogging, you get sponsored for your posts. You must have seen your favorite YouTube creators sponsoring a portion of their video talking about a brand. Sometimes, they also create an entire video themed on a brand’s product.
Similarly, for blogs, brands would like to get their products or services featured on your blog. And as you have worked hard to build your readership so they will pay an amount for publishing that sponsored post.
Now the one question you may have in your mind that when will it happen? Let me explain it with the example of YouTube creators. Most of the time, you see a creator doing a sponsored post; they have a decent amount of subscribers and viewers. Brands want to collaborate with creators who have either a huge audience base or a niche audience.
Similarly, for Blogs, when your blog will hit a certain number of monthly visitors, it should be appearing in Google Search. Now brands will find out your blog and reach out to you asking if you are interested in doing a sponsored post about products.
You can discuss everything about that project. You can also quote your pricing for doing a sponsored post. They will negotiate a bit and get agreed to it.
In some cases, they will provide the article, or in other cases, they will ask you to write the content and send them for a review. Finally, after publishing the article, they will ask you to raise the invoice and get paid.
Now this is what a real sponsored post scenario looks like, but there is another situation as well. As soon as your blog starts growing many link sellers will reach out to you.
They will reach out in a manner that makes it feels that they want to do a sponsored post on your blog, but their ultimate goal is to get a do-follow link for your blog. In exchange for it, they will offer you a really low amount, $5-100.
This is not sponsored post but link selling. Google hates such sites and may penalize you after a few months. I have seen dozens of bloggers making this mistake which eventually led to their blog’s death.
So avoid selling any do-follow links to such link sellers. The real sponsored posts are those when you publish it from a partner content author page and mark the link as sponsored—anything else you should just avoid.
If it is still not clear to you, don’t worry; in tomorrow’s post, I will explain it in detail.
For now, that’s all in this post.
Thanks for reading. Have a great day!
