The Three Types of Blogs on the Internet
Most of you don’t know the difference between different blogs.
In my yesterday’s post, I explained around which topics you can create text content and share on social media platforms. I hope it will help some of you to start your text content creation journey.
Moving forward, it’s not just social media where you can share your text content. As I have explained in one of the posts in this series, you can also start your personal blog.
In the coming posts, I will explain how you can start a personal blog. But before that, it is important for you to know the difference between different types of blogs. So, in today’s post, I have explained the different types of blogs we have on the Internet.
Most people don’t understand the difference between the different types of blogs we have. Although most blogs contain content, the different types of blogs have different purposes.
What I think there are three types of blogs on the Internet:
-
Personal Blog: If an individual wants to share their knowledge with others and start a blog, whether, on their name or a modified version of the name, it is a personal blog. Here the person starting the blog will be writing most of the content.
The content will include blog posts about his past experiences. This is what I will be guiding you guys to create in the coming posts. A fine example of a personal blog is Zerodha co-founder Nithin Kamath’s personal blog https://nithinkamath.me/blog/
-
Blogs started by Media companies: Blogs are not limited to individuals. Actually, personal blogging is no longer relevant in today’s world. These days media companies are using Blogging to build digital media brands for them. So as a beginner, when you say that you want to start a blog, basically, you want to get into the media business.
You may be thinking of a simple blog, but if it works out, you can build a team of individuals and convert it into a media house. With the growth, you can either start or acquire new projects. By combining all the projects, you can build a group of media brands. This is what exactly I am trying to do with Yorker Media. My business owns and operates multiple web properties.
-
Blogs of non-media companies: Blogging is one of the best ways to get organic traffic from search engines. Businesses all around the world have already understood this fact, and they are leveraging Blogging to rank on keywords relevant to their business.
Their purpose for starting a blog is not personal branding or making money from ads and affiliates as media companies do. But Blogging helps them create awareness around their products. The same visitors later become their customers. You can find the blog page in the footer of most businesses these days.
So, these are the three broad types of blogs that exist today on the Internet. I hope some of you got a unique perspective on different types of blogs. If yes, let me know your thoughts about it.
That’s all in this post.
Thanks for reading. Have a great day.
