The Mistake Most Beginner Bloggers Make While Buying Web Hosting

· 3 min read

Most beginner bloggers make this mistake while buying web hosting.

In my previous post, I explained the different types of web hosting. I wrote we have shared hosting, VPS hosting, dedicated hosting, cloud hosting, managed WordPress hosting, etc.

With so many different types of web hosting, those who are just starting out their blogging journey often get confused about which one to choose.

As evident, most new bloggers don't come from a technical background. They haven't built a website in the past and don't know much about web hosting.

Some of them didn't even know that there are different types of web hosting and think all the hostings are the same. They try to get help from the Internet and search for the best web hosting on Google and YouTube.

Due to the lack of knowledge, they easily get influenced by affiliate marketers. As some of you know, hosting companies offer a lucrative amount of money for every sale to those who are promoting them and bringing sales.

In the greed of making affiliate sales, most Blogging Gurus recommend a web hosting that they haven't tried for their blogs. They first convince newbies to start Blogging by showing their incomes.

Someone who is at the start of their career easily gets convinced and starts thinking that they can start making a similar amount of money in no time. When they are convinced, those Blogging Gurus recommend a web-hosting that pays them the highest.

They even suggest beginners to buy hosting for one year or, in some cases, up to four years. The hosting companies price these yearly or multiple year plan in a way that anyone can fall for it.

Have you ever wondered why influencers try to convince you to buy web hosting for one year or multiple years? The simple reason is hosting companies offer a higher commission for customers making purchases for yearly or multiple-year plans.

Beginners often buy hosting for multiple years, they create a blog, try it for a few months, and when they don't get any success, they quit it. As they have purchased web hosting for years, and it is of no use to them.

Now understand the other side of the spectrum; suppose a beginner purchased hosting for one year and started a blog. With all the efforts, the blog started getting a good amount of visitors.

In that case, the shared hosting will be of no use, and they will need to upgrade to Cloud hosting.

That's the reason I suggest beginners to go with either monthly plans or a three-month plan, even if it is priced higher.

My point here is you don't even know you will like Blogging and stick to it. And if it works, you will need a better hosting plan.

As you have understood from the above points, it is very hard to find a genuine suggestion for web hosting. And that's what I am trying to do with these posts.

In upcoming posts, I will share my experience with various web hosting companies and my honest suggestions, so stay tuned for that.

That's it for this post.

Thanks for reading. Have a great day!
