No Funds to Hire Writers? How to Write Content Yourself

· 4 min read

No funds to hire content writers for your blog, this is how you can write content yourself.

In my yesterday’s post, I wrote about how you can get content written for the topics you have researched for your blog. As I wrote, either you can write yourself or hire a team of content writers for your blog. Considering most of you are just starting out with Blogging, it is safe to assume that you will be writing all the content yourself.

Now, if you have started Blogging but haven’t worked as a content writer in the past, you will find the content writing part very hard. And as I have mentioned in one of my early posts, Blogging is 80% content and 20% rest everything, so you will need to master the content writing part. To help you out with this situation, here are a few tips you can implement to write content yourself.

Research: Assuming you have researched the topics start by picking one topic at a time. The most important step in writing content is research. So, start with doing research on that topic. Search that topic on Google and read all the content that is ranking on it. As some of those topics will be untapped, you won’t find many articles in that situation; check out Quora answers, Reddit, and other discussion forums. Also, watch if there are some YouTube videos on that topic. Most importantly, take note of everything you find during research.

Create an Outline: When you are done with the research part, create a rough outline of everything you will include in your content. Things like all the headings you will keep, the FAQs you will answer. If you have an outline, you will know exactly what you are going to write.

Writing: In the writing part, start with any section of your outline which seems easier to you. There is no such thing that you need to start with the introduction and then write every section one by one. Rather, it is good to write the introduction after writing everything. I will suggest starting with the easiest part of the article. I have personally experienced getting started is most important; once you have started, there will be no going back. You should not worry about grammar and spelling mistakes while writing; it will hamper your writing flow.

Editing: When you are done with the writing part, you can edit your content. For editing, use a tool like Grammarly. Here my suggestion will be to not heavily depend on such tools. Use them for just grammar and spelling checks. Don’t implement all of their suggestions.

Draft: When you are done with the editing, your content is ready to be drafted in your WordPress dashboard. Bring the content to your dashboard, and make sure the content is pasted as per your outline and headings are correctly added. Once done, there are a couple of things that you need to ensure.

Images: While drafting, add a few images regarding the topic you have written. Ensure the images are of good quality, properly sized, and renamed. Also, don’t use the images of other sites. If possible, take the images yourself or get them from a stock image site like Unsplash. You will also require a Featured Image.

On-Page SEO: After you are done with images, do some basic on-page SEO with plugins like Yoast SEO. Add things like Focus Keyword and Meta Description. Yoast will suggest some other pointers, try to fulfill them. When all of this is done, your content is ready to publish.

So, this is how you can write content yourself for your blog.

That’s all in this post.
