In my yesterday's post, I explained how you could join the Raptive ad network on your blog. The post also sums up my series of posts around making money through advertising.

Moving forward, the next way I had mentioned for monetizing a blog was affiliate marketing. So, starting with today's post, I will dig deeper into how you can make money from your blog using affiliate marketing.

Most of you should already be aware of affiliate marketing. But for those who don't know much about it, let me start with what affiliate marketing is and how it works.

The term affiliate means "officially connected." Now add marketing, and it becomes a form of marketing where an individual or a business is connected with an organization and promotes their product or service. And in return, the organization offers a certain percentage of commission to them.

On paper, it sounds very easy you bring sales and get a cut of the overall revenue of that sale. But to make this happen, you will need a form of distribution where you will promote those products or services.

There could be various channels you can do the promotion. You can do it using social media platforms like YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, etc. No doubt, these platforms work the best; however, the best way of promoting affiliate marketing is through a blog. And that's exactly what we will be discussing throughout this series of posts.

Now, assuming you have a blog up and running, you are all set to make money using affiliate marketing. So all you need is a blog where you have regular visitors, and then you can easily integrate products and earn through affiliate marketing.

But the catch here is you need an audience to which the products you are promoting are relevant and, most importantly, they are interested in buying that product. It simply means the products you will promote will depend based upon the niche of your blog and the audience you have.

Also, it is safe to assume that you should have decided on your niche by now and already creating content around that niche. Let's say you have a finance blog; then you can promote credit cards, insurance, loans, etc. If you have a tech blog, you can promote tech products like smartphones, computers, gadgets, etc.

Now the result you will get in affiliate marketing will depend based on the type of content you are creating. Whether it is informational or has purchase content. For best conversions, you should be doing affiliate marketing on the articles with purchase content.

Next, you just need to keep creating content, partner with companies offering affiliate commissions, and earn money as sales start coming.
