Starting UMATechnology.Org as a Standalone Project

· 3 min read

In my previous post, I wrote about redirecting an expired Tech domain. As I wrote in that post, it didn't work out. In today's post, I will write about how I started it as a project and how it performed.

I had already installed WordPress and used a plugin to redirect pages with the link juice to the article on TechYorker. So when I decided to continue it as a new project, I stopped redirecting those pages.

Then I wrote an article explaining UMA Technology and published it. Once the article was published, I redirected all the pages with backlinks to that article. In March 2022, I published that only article.

In April, I started publishing regularly and posted 18 new articles. That month I received 328 visitors. In May, I published 13 articles. At the end of May, the site now has 32 articles. It all helped to grow the traffic to 1010 visitors in May.

In June, I could only publish eight new articles taking the overall count to 40. The traffic grew to 1.4k visitors in June. Again in July, I published eight new articles. However, the traffic remained the same at 1.4k visitors. So now, I had 48 articles on the site, but traffic was only around 50 visitors a day.

It was lower than my expectations, so I decided to focus on Link Building. In August, I published five articles that were Exclusive stories. The site received good, high-quality links, and the traffic increased to around 2k visitors monthly.

As you know, UMATechnology.Org was not my primary project, and I had many different things going on. All the revenue my business was making was only enough to fund my other projects. As they were going well, it didn't make sense to take some funds out and invest in this project. So, in September, I decided to pause the project and resume again later.

Although I made this decision, I still published two new articles in September. The traffic dropped to 1.6k visitors. I didn't publish any new articles in October, and the traffic dropped even further to 1.32k visitors. In November, I published one article as an experiment. The traffic continued dropping, and this time, it was 1.2k visits.

I didn't publish anything in December, and the traffic dipped to 1k. This is January, and again no new article on this project. The traffic level remained the same 1k visitors. Currently, the site has a total of 56 published articles.

Starting 27 March 2022 till today, It has received around 12k visitors and 15.6k page views. You may want to know how much revenue I made from this traffic. That is $247.91 with an RPM of $17.36 from Adsense.

The site is still making $25-30 a month. This month it is so far $27.17. It is not bad because I only published 56 articles and stopped publishing.

That's all about this project; in tomorrow's post, I will write about the other expired domain I purchased for $810. That one is way successful and currently getting 50k monthly visitors. So, please stay tuned for that.

Thanks for reading this one. Have a great day ahead!
