This is how you can use LinkedIn to get direct clients for content writing

In yesterday’s post I explained how you can get direct clients using social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook. Among all these platforms LinkedIn is by far the best way to find high paying direct clients. So, in today’s post I will write about how you can leverage LinkedIn and get clients.

Unlike other social media platforms where you will need to share details about your education and experience with clients, LinkedIn is an online resume. If you reach a website owner on LinkedIn they can view your profile. With a glance they can go through your educational qualifications and past work experience. They will be in a better situation to make a decision to hire you.

You already have an account on the platform. Now all you need to do is start leveraging it. As I suggested in my previous posts, create a list of all the top websites within your selected niche. Suppose you work in Tech, note down all the major Tech media sites in the industry.

Now search for the name of the company on LinkedIn and you will find their company page. Now visit their page and go to the People section. Scroll through the list and send a personalized connection request to Founders, Co-Founders, Hiring Person or other management officials. A personalized connect request will increase your chances of getting your connection request accepted. Do it to increase the number of relevant connections you have.

After a few days, start a conversation with the website owners. Write a message about what you think about their work and how you benefited from it as a content writer. Don’t just go and send your first message as “Hey, I am in an urgent need of a job, hire me” This way, it is most likely that your messages will get ignored. They already have seen your profile and know that you are a content writer. So don’t become desperate in your first conversation.

In your next conversation you can ask if they are looking for any content writer. If they say yes then only pitch that you can help them with your experience. They would be in a better position to work with you. This is the one way of using LinkedIn to reach direct clients but this isn’t it.

Businesses are also looking for high quality content writers so if you have a solid LinkedIn presence when a business needs writers and you are in a connection with them. They may reach out asking if you are comfortable with them. It has happened to me as well. I have found several clients who themselves reach out to me asking if I would be comfortable working with them. So make connections on LinkedIn and you will benefit from either of both ways.

That's all I wanted to share in this post. I hope some of you will find it useful and implement the suggestions to find direct clients for your content writing service.

Thanks for reading, have a great day ahead!
